Abstract :
The presence of power system oscillations in the power system grid affects its stable operation and hinders Renewable Energy Sources (RES) integration like solar and wind. Recent studies have explored damping controllers as a reliable system to damp these oscillations, however, the damping controllers need to be designed using optimization techniques for optimal performance. This study presents a damping controller in a power system stabilizer (PSS) installed on the IEEE Kundur’s 2-area power test system integrated into a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) Wind Energy Conversion System (DFIG-WECS) using Matlab-Simulink Simulation Software. Results showed that the PSS damping controller introduced rotor angle stability in the DFIG-WECS integrated power test system.
